Echmiadzin Treasury Museum

The two-story building houses not only museum exhibits of the Armenian Church but also the library of Catholicos Karekin I.

The museum was designed by architect Baghdasar Arzoumanian and is named after American-Armenian benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Manoukian. This beautiful and valuable building was constructed with their generous donation. The items displayed in the treasury were brought to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin over time from various Armenian communities across a wide geographical area.

These pieces reflect the craftsmanship and high creative spirit of Armenian masters from different eras, as well as their unique sense of beauty. The treasury presents many valuable items of religious and applied art — coffins, altar curtains, chalices, relics, vestments, chandeliers, crosses, old Armenian carpets, pottery, and wood carvings.

Among the most precious exhibits are manuscript inscriptions and handwritten books with their unique miniatures, as well as delicately embroidered vase covers. There is also a collection of paintings of the Holy Virgin, created over time in various regions of historical Armenia.
