Sardarapat Memorial Complex
The complex was built in May 1968 to commemorate the defeat of the Turkish army on May 26, 1918, marking the 50th anniversary of that historic battle. It is considered one of the most remarkable structures of modern times.
The main purpose of establishing the Sardarapat State Ethnographic Museum was to preserve all materials related to the May battle. The central exhibition hall is dedicated to these events, as well as the founding of the First Republic of Armenia.
The museum also showcases items of material culture preserved in Armenia through various historical periods — from Bronze Age tools to 20th-century national costumes and carpets. These exhibits offer insights into the development of crafts across the ages and the distinctive features of Armenian daily life.
