Etchmiadzin Cathedral is one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. This is the main temple of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the throne of the Supreme Patriarch of the Catholicos of All Armenians. Located in the city of Vagharshapat, Armavir region of Armenia. According to legend, the first Patriarch Grigor Lusavorich (the Illuminator) dreamed of how Christ descended from heaven and indicated the place for the construction of the cathedral. At this place in 303, where an ancient pagan temple was located, a church was laid, called Echmiadzin, which in Armenian means "the place of descent of the Only-born".
